You are entitled to know, to the extent that we can reasonably inform you at your first visit, what your legal fees will cost.  We encourage a frank, open discussion about our fees with each client at the time of the first interview.  New Jersey Lawyers are paid under various fee arrangements depending on the specific circumstances of the case.

Contingency Fee:

On a contingency fee basis, your legal fees will be based on the amount of recovery we make; no recovery means no fee.  You may have the option of choosing this plan in lieu of hourly charges.  Not all cases qualify for the contingency basis; we will tell you if yours does.

Hourly Fee:

On an hourly fee basis, fees are based on an hourly rate for services rendered.  All work is logged and you will be provided with a detailed, itemized list of all work performed and the rates charged for the work.

Yes. Most clients who are seeking to bring a claim to recover money choose to have our firm represent them on a contingency fee basis. This means that we charge no legal fees to our client unless and until we recover monetary damages for our client through verdict, settlement or by other means, in which event our fees are paid out of the recovery as a portion of the recovery.  If we recover no monetary damages then the client would not pay any attorney fees. In most cases, the amount of the legal fee is based upon State statutory law, but in the event it is not regulated by law then the client and attorney will agree in advance on the percentage that will be paid for attorneys’ fees.  In either case, the firm and the client will enter into a written fee agreement at the beginning of our representation so that the fee arrangement is very clear from the outset.

The only way to determine if you actually have a case is through a quick consultation with our NJ and NYC lawyers.  Speak with our team of qualified experts. Our lawyers will evaluate your case and assess your legal options.  They will provide you with all your options and let you make the decision that is best for you.

Yes. Each state has a filing deadline for individual types of civil cases, called the Statute of Limitation. You must file your case before the statute of limitation expires.

For example, the Statute of Limitations for a personal injury lawsuit in New Jersey is two years. The Statute of Limitations for a personal injury lawsuit in New York is three years. If you do not file a claim within the statute of limitations, you will be barred from filing a case with the court. Other factors may also apply. This is why it is important to consult with a lawyer as soon as possible after your injury.

We consider clear and frequent communication with our clients to be one of the most important, and most commonly overlooked, part of the lawyers obligation to their clients.  While we will also make sure you understand exactly what is going on with your case, the frequency of communication often varies depending upon the nature and stage of your case.  Clients who contact the firm for an update, can expect to hear back from a professional within 24 hours, at most.
