Meet John J. Zunin

John J. Zunin is a Litigation Associate with the Firm who focuses his practice on commercial, complex tort, and general casualty litigation in New York and New Jersey.

Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Zunin was a counsellor to the insurance industry, providing litigation and investigation services to the nation’s largest insurers in coverage, defense, and subrogation contexts.  This experience working for insurers allows Mr. Zunin to navigate cases with a well-developed understanding of how claims departments undertake to mitigate loss, and gives him the ability to obtain maximum value for his clients who have suffered business, property, or catastrophic bodily injury loss. 

Additionally, Mr. Zunin has served as a counselor to many New Jersey public entities and is well-versed in municipal and county government and procurement law (N.J.S.A. Titles 40 & 40A).

More specifically, Mr. Zunin has litigated scores of complex tort and general casualty matters involving some of the nation’s largest real estate development projects, including cases implicating New York’s unique elevation-related hazard law (NY Labor Law Sec. 240), as well as many cases involving provisions of the NY Industrial Code and the NYC Building Code.  Moreover, Mr. Zunin has litigated several medical malpractice, long term care neglect, and environmental contamination cases.

Prior to working in private practice, Mr. Zunin served as a judicial intern to the Hon. Dennis M. Cavanaugh, U.S.D.J., in United States Court for the District of New Jersey, as well as completed a European Union Competition Law Seminar in Zurich, Switzerland and New York, New York.

An avid sportsman, Mr. Zunin regularly enjoys golf, tennis, and the outdoors.  He gets great fulfillment from obtaining maximum justice for those wronged by harm caused by the negligent and careless.
